- Introduction of British troops
- Added new weapons for British troops:
- Enhanced FX for smoke, fire, rain, etc.
- New sounds and music
- Updated player and item models
- Added rocket launchers for each faction. These weapons are not available in class selection menu and can be found scattered across the map:
- Added the ability to drop primary weapons
- Players now drop their primary weapon upon death

On May 6, 2003, the retail version of Day of Defeat 1.0 was released, featuring several additions compared to the MOD:
- Added VGUI2 menu system, which completely overhaules interface - supports in and out of game configuration, server browsing, and more
- New map dod_vicenza
- Updated map dod_merderet (previosly called dod_ramelle)
